vacuity - a state of being without contents; absence of thought or intelligence

sallow - of a sickly, yellow color

pertinacity - persistence

quaff - to drink a beverage, especially an intoxicating one, copiously and with hearty enjoyment.

  7. The girl quaffed the intoxicating drink, her vacuity was her downfall though, she ended up becoming sick from the drink.

    An idea for my personal narrative was when my parents got divorced. After they got divorced I feel as if I changed as a person. Another idea is when I did volleyball in high school and how that changed my perspective on certain things. Another idea is when I came to high school and how going from a small Catholic school was much different than a public high school.

  10. When we visited my grandmother in the hospital, we felt horrible because her face was a sallow color and she looked miserable.

    The vacuity of Anna was astounding as she blurted out random answers to the question.

    My parent's divorce or how my relationship with my siblings has impacted my life. My family's dynamic has effected my life a lot and I wanted to write about the times that I changed because of them.

  12. Vacuity - Considering the fact that challenging circumstances often lead to irrational decisions, it is rather remarkable that the astronauts on the Apollo 13 mission possessed no VACUITY of mind and managed to survive amidst all of the odds against them.

    Pertinacity - Although he admittedly faced a dependence on the drink, the alcoholic continuously exemplified PERTINACITY in his efforts to shake his destructive habit.

    Personal Narrative Ideas:
    -Experience at Creation Festival in which I came to love Christian music; time at Uprise Festival in which my faith was strengthened
    -Time during marching band this year when I exploded over a minor instance and learned the degrading impact of my words
    -Experience with helping a homeless man in which I learned that not all people who claim to be impoverished are truly willing to except every gift offered to them
    -Time at Band Camp in which I learned the power of peer pressure and the consequences associated with giving in to such temptations
    -Discovering that I enjoyed playing guitar that caused me to take two years of lessons and explore musical ambitions
    -Summer employment at Messiah that clarified the importance of hard work and dedication in the work force
    -Event at a weekend retreat in which my dad sustained an injury that revealed the fact that the world is imperfect and life is unpredictable

    I came up with these ideas because all of these events had an impact on me. I remember some of them better than others, but all of these occurrences at least left an impression on me that allowed me to learn about the world and myself.

    Vacuity - Every time I go to take a test, minutes before my mind enters a state of vacuity.

    Pertinacity - The reason I despise answering the phone is because of the telephone salesman's pertinacity on buying their products.
